Site Preparation and Surface Leveling
A successful volleyball court starts with professional site assessment and ground preparation. The ground must be cleared of debris, rocks, and vegetation before leveling the surface to ensure proper drainage and a smooth playing area. A sloped gradient (typically 1%) is maintained to allow water runoff, which is essential for outdoor sand or grass courts. For indoor courts, precision leveling and subfloor installation are critical for shock absorption and player safety.

02
High-Quality Material Selection
Choosing the right materials ensures durability and performance. For sand courts, fine, washed sand is used with a depth of around 12-18 inches to provide cushioning and avoid compaction. Indoor courts usually use synthetic flooring (like vinyl or polyurethane) or hardwood, depending on the purpose (training vs. tournaments). Net systems, poles, and boundary lines must meet international standards (FIVB or local regulations) to offer an authentic and professional play experience.
03
Court Dimensions and Safety Standards
Standard volleyball court dimensions are 18m x 9m with a free zone of at least 3 meters around all sides (for indoor courts). Proper spacing, lighting (for indoor/night play), and padding for poles and walls are crucial for player safety. Adhering to official guidelines not only ensures fair play but also makes the court eligible for hosting competitions or tournaments. Optional features like fencing, seating, or scoreboard systems can also be integrated based on project needs and budget.

A flat, open area with good drainage is ideal. Avoid areas near trees or low-lying spots to reduce maintenance and waterlogging issues. Orientation also matters — ideally, courts should be positioned north-south to avoid direct sunlight during gameplay.
Costs vary depending on the type (indoor, outdoor, sand, or grass), materials used, and additional features. On average, an outdoor sand volleyball court can cost between ₹2.5 lakh to ₹6 lakh, while indoor courts can range from ₹10 lakh and above.
Construction timelines depend on the project scale and weather conditions. Typically, a basic sand court takes 2–3 weeks, while indoor or synthetic surface courts might take 1–2 months due to flooring installation, structure, and finishing work.
Yes, regular maintenance ensures safety and longevity. Sand courts require raking and sand refilling; indoor courts need cleaning, surface polishing, and periodic equipment checks. Investing in maintenance extends the lifespan and keeps play conditions optimal.
